The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) are actively recruiting to fill open faculty positions within the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. A variety of opportunities exist between our two locations: Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and Ascension All Saints Hospital located in Racine, Wisconsin. All Saints is located 30 miles south of Milwaukee and has the support of MCW’s nationally recognized Pediatric Hospital Medicine program located on the campus of MCW and CHW in Milwaukee. Positions offered may be full-time, part-time, or clinical-only. We also have opportunities available to split time between All Saints and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Milwaukee. Shared Medicine-Pediatrics hospitalist positions are also available and encouraged. In addition, MCW and CHW are actively interviewing for Advanced Practice Provider (APP) positions to build our APP team at the main campus location in Milwaukee. The Physician Assistant (PA) or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with Acute Care training (PNP-AC) will work as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing direct patient care to children on the Pediatric Hospital Medicine service in partnership with Pediatric Hospital Medicine physicians.
Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin Our section is comprised of an energetic group of over 35 physicians (including 7 Med-Peds providers) and 4 Advanced Practice Providers with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, academic productivity, and medical education. In addition to providing clinical care, our team is engaged in a variety of educational, research, advocacy, safety and quality improvement work. Many section members are involved in national initiatives in these areas including leadership roles both locally and nationally. Our section is actively involved in training medical students and residents from pediatric, medicine/pediatric, emergency medicine and family medicine training programs. We are looking forward to starting a Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship program in July 2020. Areas of academic interest include bronchiolitis, transitions of care, medical education, surgical co-management, safety and quality improvement. Our program provides ample opportunity for growth and academic collaboration. Opportunities for leadership exist within the section, hospital, fellowship program, and ongoing initiatives. Children’s Hospital is a 306-bed freestanding hospital dedicated solely to the care of children. Children’s Hospital is part of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center Campus, along with the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital. It is a major teaching affiliate of the Medical College and is affiliated with several schools of nursing. Children’s Hospital is one of the busiest pediatric hospitals in the country. It is a Level I Trauma Center and houses 13 inpatient units including a 72-bed pediatric intensive care unit, a 69-bed Level IV neonatal intensive care unit and an eight-bed Level IV Epilepsy Monitoring unit. Children’s Research Institute brings together researchers and clinicians from multiple disciplines throughout southeastern Wisconsin including life sciences, medicine, psychology, nursing, engineering, epidemiology and the many other health related disciplines to investigate and then assure research is moved into clinical practice. Children’s Specialty Group Children’s Specialty Group is the pediatric specialty group established in 2000 as a joint venture between Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Children’s Specialty Group provides a critical link between the integrated health care delivery network of Children’s Hospital and the commitment to excellence in medical research and education of the Medical College. Children’s Specialty Group membership includes more than 360 pediatric specialists, 130 pediatric advanced practice nurses and 40 physician assistants. The main campus houses a 314-bed general acute care facility providing women’s and children’s services. The Pediatric unit has 14 beds dedicated to the care of children. Qualifications: Both faculty and APP candidates must be outstanding clinicians dedicated to the care of all hospitalized children and their families and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. We are looking for faculty candidates that are board certified/board eligible in general pediatrics who are committed to a career in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. For faculty, fellowship or advanced training is a plus. Academic rank and salary will be determined based on experience. For Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNP), a current and maintained Acute Care certification is necessary. Advanced degrees for both APNs and PAs are welcomed, and experience is preferred. |
