Inpatient Psychiatrist needed to care for our Veterans – Great Benefits!

The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center located in Jackson MS is searching for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to join their dynamic healthcare team as an Inpatient Psychiatrist. Psychiatrist will provide MH care to Veterans admitted in acute inpatient unit, in collaboration with physician assistant. Psychiatrist will provide care for patients with a variety of mental disorders, including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, cognitive disorders, and others. Psychiatrist will also accept and manages calls from psychiatric inpatient services, the ED, and the med surge units, during nights and weekends, on a rotating basis with other physicians. This position may be required to hold a faculty appointment at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ~ Assessing and treating (both pharmacological and psychological) psychiatric inpatients ~ Consultative evaluations, and, if necessary, basic medical assessment of psychiatric patients ~ Provide clinical consultation to various disciplines and levels of training including physician assistants and medical residents ~ Be involved in the training of students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, and fellows, as appropriate ~ Other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M.-4:30 P.M. Also available is 7:00 A.M.-7:00 P.M. weekdays and 7:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. (seven on-seven off tour). On-call responsibility is required for either shift (will only be during on time if seven on-seven off tour of duty). Salary Range: $250,000 -$282,000 per year Selected candidate may be eligible for student loan repayment through the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability. A recruitment incentive is available for highly a qualified candidate QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Citizenship: Citizen of the United States: (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens) Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia Education: Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
