This Psychologist participates in a full range of psychotherapeutic, diagnostic and training activities in the Mental Health & Behavioral Science Service. S/he is responsible for the provision of outpatient general mental health services at a community-based outpatient clinic. As part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, they perform assessments, level of care determinations, evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy as well as treatment planning and program development. Provides psychological treatment and services: The incumbent has knowledge of, and ability to apply, a wide range of professional psychological theories, evidence based therapies and assessment methods to a variety of patient populations. S/he provides a full range of evidence based therapeutic interventions in group and individual formats. The incumbent develops comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment strategies. S/he has knowledge of the recovery model, and integrates it in the treatment of Veterans experiencing mental illness. S/he develops and documents clear treatment goals that are thorough, based in recovery and utilize symptom severity and intensity to inform treatment frequency. The incumbent develops and implements clinical procedures that balance clinical demand and therapeutic resources, resulting in successful meeting of performance measures and strives to continually improve clinical systems. S/he is responsible for timely completion of all clinical record keeping and documentation required by the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service and Medical Center, as appropriate. Provides psychological evaluation and assessment: The incumbent performs evaluations of Veterans with a variety of psychological, mood and personality disorders. Evaluations can be performed for clinical or administrative purposes, including Compensation and Pension Examinations, as directed by the Supervisory Psychologist. Performs consultation and training: S/he consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. S/he serves as a consultant to other medical center staff as requested and assists in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients. The incumbent may provide clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training, including trainees seeking licensure in psychology. S/he may be involved in the training of medical students, medical and psychiatric residents, nursing students, fellows and other graduate or post-graduate trainees, as appropriate. Participates in meetings, committees or projects as assigned: The incumbent attends of and participates in organizational meetings, treatment planning meetings and assigned committees or projects. The incumbent may serve on the Medical Center, VISN, and/or National VA committees or task forces. S/he may represent the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service on decision-making committees at the Robley Rex Medical Center. The incumbent may participate in leadership roles on local, state, and national professional organizations and represents the Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences Service and/or Medical Center at professional/program community group/events and committees. The incumbent may participate in, and present, outcome data and research at VA and regional or national scientific or professional meetings, as appropriate. S/he assists in preparation of RFPs and grant proposals, as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
