This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The clinical responsibilities of this position will emphasize use of evidenced based psychotherapies, as well as providing mental health prevention, assessment, treatment, and professional consultation services. The position primarily involves direct outpatient care at the Clearlake Community Based Outpatient Clinic, but may also include program development and/or trainee supervision. The psychologist functions as a member of the Clearlake CBOC MH team. The psychologist functions as a member of the Clearlake CBOC MH team, providing mental health prevention, assessment, treatment, and professional consultation services. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Screens for cognitive deficits to address specific functional questions. Conducts assessments of mood, functioning, substance use, and risk. Conducts diagnosis of depressive and anxiety-related disorders, subclinical symptoms of dysphoria, PTSD, adjustment difficulties, excessive use or misuse of alcohol or other drugs as well as other Axis I and II conditions Uses evidenced based individual and group interventions for depression, anxiety, PTSD, psychosis, chronic disease management, substance use, and relationship problems and for all other Axis I and II conditions. Uses evidenced based behavioral medicine interventions to manage pain, disability, sleep problems, weight loss, smoking cessation, and medical adherence. Functions professionally and appropriately in multidisciplinary settings; Works in a cooperative, collaborative, professional and productive manner with staff from other disciplines and healthcare systems in a variety of contexts in order to advance the goals of the VISN. Serves as a consulting expert to outpatient and inpatient teams, other treatment personnel and medical center management. Provides clinical services through the use of tele-mental health technology when it is indicated and available.
